The Water Stewardship Program

The Water Stewardship program aims at diving DEEP into our community to promote aquifer awareness and water wise education. The goals of the Water Stewardship are:

  • Development of Community Pride in Sustaining a Valuable Natural Resource
  • Encouragement of a Community Driven Action
  • Education of Wise and Efficient Water Use
  • Protection of a Limited Sole Source
Spokane Chiefs for Water Stewardship
The Mayor, Mary Verner, along with the City of Spokane’s Water Stewardship Program promote responsible use of our valuable resources. Our partnership with the Spokane Chief’s helps inform our citizens how to use our water wisely.
Specialty Landscaping Classes 

There are many ways to save water and still have a beautiful landscape. By using native and drought tolerant plant material, learning what your watering requirements are and creating the most efficient way of delivering water to your landscape. Additionally, you can incorporate some really unique garden designs into your yard and garden that will not only save you money; it will help reduce the amount of pesticides and fertilizers you use. Join us for this Specialty Landscaping class series to learn how to design a landscape with the environment in mind.

This is a series of four Saturday classes September 20 - October 11 focused on water conservation. All classes are presented by the WSU Master Gardeners and are held at the County Extension Education Center. The cost is $10 per class or $35 for the entire series.
